# Slack

Post messages and read channel history in a Slack workspace. Writing here is visible to humans immediately, which is why this is rated high.

- **Publisher of the server:** Model Context Protocol
- **Upstream:** https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers
- **Documentation:** https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers/tree/main/src/slack
- **Transport:** stdio (local process)
- **Command:** `npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-slack`

## Credentials and configuration

- SLACK_BOT_TOKEN: bot user OAuth token (xoxb-...)
- SLACK_TEAM_ID: workspace id

These are **placeholders describing what to supply**; the registry stores no credentials. Enter real values in your own AO instance when you create the connection.

## Tools (6)

- `slack_list_channels` — List channels the bot can see.
- `slack_get_channel_history` — Read recent messages from a channel.
- `slack_post_message` — Post a message to a channel. Visible to humans immediately.
- `slack_reply_to_thread` — Reply inside an existing message thread.
- `slack_list_users` — List workspace users.
- `slack_get_user_profile` — Read a user's profile.

## Risk

Declared risk: **high**. Tools that can change state: `slack_post_message`, `slack_reply_to_thread`. Write access must be enabled explicitly.
