# Prometheus

Query a Prometheus server for metrics, and read alert rules and their firing state. Read-only against the monitoring backend.

- **Publisher of the server:** Prometheus
- **Upstream:** https://prometheus.io/docs/guides/mcp/
- **Documentation:** https://prometheus.io/docs/guides/mcp/
- **Transport:** streamable HTTP (remote)
- **Endpoint:** `http://localhost:9090`

## Credentials and configuration

- Bearer token for a read-only Prometheus user

These are **placeholders describing what to supply**; the registry stores no credentials. Enter real values in your own AO instance when you create the connection.

## Tools (4)

- `query_promql` — Run an instant PromQL query.
- `query_range` — Run a range query over a time window.
- `list_series` — List series matching a label selector.
- `get_alert_rules` — List alerting rules and their state.

## Risk

Declared risk: **low**. None of the listed tools is named as a dedicated write operation (judged from tool names only; a general-purpose tool such as a SQL or fetch call can still have effects — see the declared risk).

> This entry is a catalogue description. Installing it creates no connection and grants no agent access;
> your instance's own connection settings and approvals decide what an agent can reach.
